Tell asoul your story?

At least one asoul is interested in your story and others may be, too. I’d like to post people’s stories & essays at asoul.org. I’m especially interested in such questions as:

  • How did you come to an atheist or an agnostic?
  • What internal and/or external difficulties did you go through on your way?
  • Were you raised to a religion as a child?
  • At what point and how did you question the existence of god and soul?
  • What do you think of asoul as concept and word? Funny? Not funny? Too much?

Send your story, essay, or comments to ethos@asoul.org and I’ll post it here.

Thanks,

Lloyd Smithson Meeker

Mines not a very long, nor interesting a story i’m afraid!

I was born an atheist; along the way people told me there was a God so I sang about him in school assembly, not really knowing who I was singing about. Apparently he was a kind person, but i’d never met him so it was pretty difficult to tell.
At the age of about 17, I heard a word which best described my complete lack of belief in this bloke in the sky who watches over us all; this word was “atheist”.

Though even to this day, I much prefer the term “Doesn’t believe in a god” as it’s less of a categorisation or label.
